The Rise of Disaster Capitalism: As George Bush and his cabinet took up their posts in January , the need for new sources of growth for US corporations was an urgent matter. With the tech bubble now officially popped and the DowJones tumbling points in their first two and half months in office, they found themselves staring in the face of a serious economic downturn. John Maynard Keynes had argued that governments should spend their way out of recessions, providing economic stimulus with public works. Bush’s solution was for the government to deconstruct itself – hacking off great chunks of the public wealth and feeding them to corporate America, in the form of tax cuts on the one hand and lucrative contracts on the other. Bush’s budget director, the think-tank ideologue Mitch Daniels, pronounced: Joseph Allbaugh, the Republican party operative whom Bush put in charge of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Fema – the body responsible for responding to disasters, including terrorist attacks – described his new place of work as “an oversized entitlement programme”.

Jason Gregory, th Aircraft Maintenance aero repair, use their safety harness on a man lift while inspecting and rigging C-5 slat actuators. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. The weekend is finally here! You quickly back up to the B5 stand. Hurriedly, you jump out of the cab, run to the rear and hook up the maintenance stand to the pintle hook. You run back to get into the cab, but you remember you forgot to insert the cotter pin to secure the pintle hook.
You slow down and look through your rear view mirror to see the B5 stand came unhooked from the pintle hook and it veers off to the left. You look to the left and you see the B5 stand smash into the right side of the fuselage of an aircraft. This unfortunate mishap could have been prevented if you would have just slowed down, taken your time and did everything according to the technical order data. It is vitally important to adhere to all warning and caution captions listed in the TO.

In military jargon this meant balancing kinetic and nonkinetic activity. Or, in plain speech, fighting the Taliban versus nation-building, two goals often at odds. Frank Sturek, the battalion commander of Task Force Warrior, told me. Sturek served in Iraq under Lt. In Zabul, by contrast, the literacy rate is 15 percent, at best. May 30, In the few days I’ve been here I’ve seen both sides of the “safe house” the soldiers’ quarters reinforced extending the roof on both sides and building two new walls of sandbags. The dining facility DFAC has been sandbagged about half way up but only because they keep running out of filled bags. Click image for larger view.
I want you to call for a press conference now.
On an early morning mission the other day, the captain I was riding with got a radio call telling him there were A s overhead. These days, the planes don’t find much to bomb, but, for the soldiers, it’s still a reassuring feeling to have them up there. Usually, the planes are A s or F s, but today when I was in the camp, there was a big B flying at maybe 10, feet, cutting lazy figure eights overhead. I watched it until I got a kink in my neck, but I could hear it up there for a couple of hours afterward.
It finally left without dropping anything. Three kinds of helicopters land here at the field at Orgun: They all have a distinct sound — the Chinooks a slow woo-woo-woo, the Blackhawks a high-pitched turbine roar and the Apaches a sort of clattery whine. Even at night, you can tell what is coming in before you can see them. I’ve tried to get some photos, but it’s a little tricky not to get blasted by the rotor wash.
I was getting a shot of a Blackhawk about to lift off the other day when I saw a soldier talking on a radio nearby drop behind a barricade.

This is an alternate universe I kind of made idk if there is anything similar or there is already someone who thought of this where it is in the modern setting but with Kings and Queens, with the government as their ‘council’ So basically this is the universe where Tony Stark is king of New York, his mask very very different from the snarky and asshole Stark we know and love to some people lol instead he’s lazy, benevolent and passive, Genius, King, Playboy, Philanthropist Chapter 1: Iron Man Casino Scene Notes: This is somewhat like the movies just somewhat different, it’ll change a little more in the later chapters Chapter Text The lights dimmed around a group of tables filled with people as a screen lit up to play a video.

The picture released by the Afghan Government Image: Could not subscribe, try again laterInvalid Email A picture of Donald Trump’s Secretary of State in Afghanistan appears to have been doctored to make it look like he was in Kabul, when he wasn’t. Photos released by the US State Department showed Tillerson meeting the President in a room that featured a prominent digital clock and a large red fire alarm on the wall. But in photos released by the Afghan Government, the clock and alarm had mysteriously disappeared.
The US Embassy’s version Image: The State Department later corrected their statement, admitting it took place at Bagram, the US military’s biggest base in Afghanistan. But why would the clock be a giveaway about the location of the meeting? The clock was showing Zulu Time, a dead giveaway Image: The cable magically fades away Image: While they removed the clock and the fire alarm – they left in the cable running up the wall to them, which magically fades into the wall where the clock used to be.
